HGTV Drops ‘Rehab Addict’ After Nicole Curtis Uses N-Word On Set

HGTV has pulled Rehab Addict from its platforms after host Nicole Curtis was heard saying the n-word in leaked production footage.

The video, first reported by TMZ and later circulated online, shows Curtis on a job site appearing frustrated before blurting out the racial slur. She immediately reacts, saying, “What the f--- is that that I just said?” and asks the crew to stop filming.

Shortly after the footage surfaced, HGTV confirmed it had removed the series.

“HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict,” the network said in a statement. “Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees — it does not align with the values of HGTV. Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace.”

Curtis, who has hosted the home renovation series for more than a decade, responded after learning the show had been taken down. She told TMZ, “I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone.”

She added, “I'm grateful for the 15-year journey we've shared. It's been a meaningful chapter, but my focus isn't on my career. My focus, at this moment is rightfully on my relationships, and my community — the people who truly know my character and where my heart is.”

In posts shared to her Instagram Story, Curtis wrote, “There is more to this,” but said she needed to prioritize her family. She also said she was unaware of HGTV’s decision to pull the show until media outlets contacted her.

As of now, HGTV has removed Rehab Addict from its platforms, and the network has not announced whether the show will return.
