A white bar patron appeared to immediately regret kicking a Black man from behind in a viral video taken at a Louisiana beer garden.
The incident, captured by security footage and shared by TikTok user @Quanipov, unfolded last month at an outdoor bar with deck seating. In the video, the Black man was attempting to walk past a group of patrons blocking the entrance to the deck area when he lightly brushed one individual.
Despite tapping him on the back and saying "excuse me," the white patron swiftly kicked the Black man behind. The attack prompted the Black man to deliver his own kick, sending the white patron off the deck and onto the ground below.
According to the TikTok user, the white man's friends called emergency services, prompting the arrival of police, firefighters, and an ambulance. However, after reviewing the bar’s security footage, law enforcement reportedly determined that the initial kick came from the other patron. The TikTok user said officers allowed him to leave without charges.
“Police literally shook my hand and told me, ‘Have a better night,’” he wrote in the comments.
Several social media users applauded the Black patron for his justified response to being kicked.
“Every action has a reaction," one user wrote.
