An Ohio foster mother has been arrested after the body of her 5-year-old son was believed to be recovered in a sewage drain, ABC News reports.

On Wednesday (February 14), a statewide Amber Alert was issued in Ohio for Darnell Taylor, 5.

The alert came after Taylor's foster mother, Pammy Maye, made concerning statements to her husband that made him believe that Taylor was hurt or in danger.

Maye's whereabouts were unknown until Thursday (February 15) night, when police received a call about a woman walking around a commercial building in Brooklyn, Ohio. Police responded to the scene and took Maye into custody.

Maye was later taken to a Cleveland hospital for treatment, which is when the foster mom disclosed the location of Taylor's body. Authorities found the child's body in a sewage drain in Franklin County.

Maye is now facing charges of kidnapping and endangerment, with police seeking to add murder charges.

Maye and her husband had reportedly been fostering Taylor since May 2023.

"This is not the outcome that we wanted, but we're going to make sure that we do everything that we can to bring justice for Darnell," Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant said.
