Marvel Honors Chadwick Boseman With New 'Black Panther' Opening On Disney+

Marvel honored the late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman with a newly-updated intro to the hit film on Disney+.

Sunday (November 29) marked Boseman’s 44th birthday and the giant paid tribute to the late actor with a newly-updated introduction to the film featuring Marvel’s page-turning edit with photos and footage of Boseman in and out of character as T'Challar in scenes from Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

As you know, the star, who was recently nominated for an honor at the upcoming IFP Gotham Awards, died on August 28 after a four-year battle with colon cancer. "To all fans of #BlackPanther: watch the film on #DisneyPlus late tonight, for a special tribute to someone that was and will always be near and dear to our hearts," Walt Disney executive Bob Iger wrote in a tweet.

Last week, Marvel Studios and Disney were candid about pursuing their plans to film Black Panther 2 in July 2021. "There's only one Chadwick, and he's no longer with us," executive producer Victoria Alonso said in an interview, according to Deadline. "Sadly, our king has died in real life, not only in fiction, and we're taking a little time to see how we continue the story and how to honor this chapter of what has unexpectedly happened to us, so painful and terrible to be honest."

Among the stars set to return to the sequel include Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett.
